Accessibility in Canada is evolving rapidly. The focus is shifting from simple compliance to a more integrated, strategic approach that involves collaboration across sectors and innovation at every level. In collaboration with Aequum Global Access Inc, ArcCore Smart Homes is proud to announce that we will be attending the A11YVERSE x IAAP Canada National Accessibility Leadership Summit on June 8, 2026, in Toronto, Ontario. This event will gather leaders, practitioners, and innovators dedicated to advancing accessibility nationwide.

A Historic Moment for Accessibility in Canada

This year’s summit is especially significant because it marks the official launch and national introduction of the IAAP Canada Chapter — an important step forward in strengthening accessibility leadership and professional standards across the country.

The International Association of Accessibility Professionals (IAAP) is recognized globally as a leading professional body dedicated to advancing accessibility through education, certification, professional development, and collaboration.

The creation of the Canadian chapter establishes a stronger national foundation for accessibility professionals, organizations, and innovators working to build more inclusive experiences and environments.

The launch of the IAAP Canada Chapter creates new opportunities for collaboration, professional certification pathways, national standards alignment, and long-term growth within Canada’s accessibility sector. It reflects a broader shift happening across industries as organizations move beyond basic compliance requirements toward accessibility governance, measurable impact, strategic leadership, and inclusive innovation.

For ArcCore Smart Homes, being part of this moment is incredibly meaningful.

We are excited to share that ArcCore Smart Homes will be participating in the summit through the support and collaboration of Aequum Global Access, one of the key organizations helping lead this national initiative.

As ArcCore continues to grow, this opportunity represents an important milestone and reflects the ongoing collaboration between accessibility leadership and emerging accessible technology innovation.

Aequum Global Access is a recognized accessibility consultancy focused on advancing accessibility governance, professional standards, and strategic accessibility leadership across Canada. Their involvement in the summit, alongside A11YVERSE and IAAP Canada, highlights the growing importance of bringing accessibility professionals, innovators, institutions, and community voices together within one connected ecosystem.

Being included in this summit alongside accessibility leaders and innovators from across the country reinforces ArcCore Smart Homes’ commitment to building accessible smart home solutions that empower independence, improve quality of life, and remove barriers through technology.

About the Summit

The summit itself is designed as more than just a conference. It serves as a national convening point for accessibility leadership and cross-sector collaboration. The day will feature keynote presentations, leadership discussions, AI and accessibility panels, investor and innovation conversations, certification and standards sessions, podcast interviews, and lived-experience spotlights.

Attendees will also witness the launch of A11YVERSE, a new platform created to organize accessibility knowledge, solutions, technologies, and real-world stories into a connected ecosystem. The platform is intended to help accessibility professionals, organizations, and innovators better discover resources, share knowledge, and collaborate more effectively across sectors.

One of the most important aspects of the summit is its focus on practical accessibility implementation. The event is designed to bring together people working at every level of accessibility — from governance and policy to technology and lived experience — to discuss what is working, what challenges remain, and how organizations can move accessibility forward in meaningful ways.

Accessibility and Inclusion at the Core

The summit reflects a strong commitment to inclusion and accessible participation. Main stage programming will include live ASL interpretation and CART captioning, while all event materials are being prepared to WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards. The venue is fully wheelchair accessible, and dedicated accessibility staff will be available throughout the day to support attendees.

Accessibility and inclusive technology have always been central to ArcCore Smart Homes’ vision. Smart homes should not only be intelligent and connected — they should also be accessible, empowering, and designed to support people of all abilities. As accessibility conversations continue evolving alongside artificial intelligence, automation, and digital transformation, events like this are helping shape how innovation can remain inclusive from the beginning.

Looking Ahead

We are excited to connect with accessibility professionals, institutional leaders, innovators, and organizations from across Canada and contribute to the growing conversation around accessible technology and inclusive design.

A special thank you to Aequum Global Access for their support, collaboration, and continued commitment to advancing accessibility innovation in Canada. We are honoured to participate in this important event and stand alongside organizations working to create a more inclusive future for all Canadians.
